“Polyphony. Southeast Asia” was opened on the first floor of The Art Museum of Nanjing Art Institute at 2:30 pm on November 2019, the Exhibition will be held from 9 November-20 December 2019.
Li Xiao, the director of Nanjing University of The Art Museum, gave a speech at the opening ceremony. He said that this is the first international exhibition independently planned by Nanjing University of the Arts Museum. There will be more such exhibitions in the future. Recently, artists from Southeast Asia are often seen at the art gallery for exhibitions or live art performances. I saw a lot of works different from Chinese contemporary art forms. It has a unique characteristic vibe of Southeast Asia. Polyphony has entered the fifth period and will go to Africa and South America in the future, going to the places where there are more artists. I hope everyone will continue to pay attention and I thank the audience who came to the exhibition.

The curator, Lin Shuchuan, said after introducing the Southeast Asian artists who came to the scene that “Polyphony ·Southeast Asia” not only brought fresh works but it also brought the creation of idea from Southeast Asian artists to Nanjing.


Thai artist Chumpon Apisuk, as an artist representative, thanked the Nanjing University of The Arts Museum for the opportunity to present their works to this exhibition. More grateful is to give them a chance to create and display the artworks freely.

Zheng Wen, the deputy director of the Art Museum of Nanjing Art Institute, said that there are many art centers around the world. Lately, Shanghai is very lively because of various large-scale exhibitions and art fairs. The Art Museum of Nanjing Art Institute has once again become the object of concern because of “polyphony and Southeast Asia”. Now that issues is being discussed.
